Introducing the ACE™
Superior noise reduction and hearing protection for military aircrew
The ACE™ is the first earplug for aircrew that incorporates Active Noise Reduction. It is a compact, rugged system comprised of earplugs worn under a flight helmet’s foam or leather ear cups and an ANR module secured in a pouch which attaches to a flight harness or a molle vest. Designed for use in both fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft, the ACE™ integrates quickly and easily with the HGU-55/P and HGU-56/P flight helmets.
Maximizes communication intelligibility
The ACE™ improves communication intelligibility in two ways. First it injects the communication signal directly into the ear canal via a probe tube that runs through the foam eartip. Second the ACE™ layers ANR on top of the passive protection of the eartip to further reduce the noise reaching the ear. This combination yields a significant improvement in intelligibility.
Enhances mission focus and performance
When high noise penetrates your helmet and interferes with your ability to hear commands, it negatively affects your performance. In addition, hours of exposure to high noise wears you down as you struggle to communicate and shut the noise out of your mind. The ACE™ eliminates noise so that you can focus on your mission free of distractions and noise fatigue.
Prevents irreversible hearing loss
85dB is the highest noise level a person can work in for 8 hours before beginning to suffer hearing loss. At 88dB, it is 4 hours, at 91dB it is 2 hours, and at 94dB it is one hour. Aircrew routinely work long hours in environments well in excess of 85dB, and as a result hearing loss is the top VA disability claim. For the first time, the ACE™ gives aircrew the ability to do their jobs in even the noisiest aircraft without exposing themselves to noise levels that cause irreversible hearing loss.
